Virginia Legacy U17 Wizards in the VYSA State Cup Semifinals

-Dreybus and co. will lead the Wizards against Great Falls this weekend-

Williamsburg, VA (October 26, 2006) – The VLSC U17 Wizards will play against the top seeded Great Falls '89 on Saturday, October 28, 2006 in the semifinals of the VYSA State Cup. All semifinal and final matches will take place this year at the Hampton Roads Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, VA. The U17 Wizards have reached the semifinals after playing against some of the top teams in the state. After opening round victories against Team America '89 Blue [2-0] and Falls Church Premier AC Rangers [4-0], the Wizards overcame strong VCCL opponent Richmond Strikers [2-1]. "Anytime you have a team reach the final four, it is a big deal. Especially for a new club it is exciting and helps us as we market ourselves to future Legacy players. Our U17's are a tough team to play against. They are a well coached team, with a good mix of speed, strength and technical ability. The team is currently very confident and looking forward to the challenge ahead.  I like our chances this weekend", said Kevin Darcy, VLSC Director of Coaching. The semifinal match will take place on HRSC Field #15 at 11 AM.

Additional State Cup Results

The U16 Wizards and U18 Phoenix teams nearly missed out on joining the U17 Wizards in the final four weekend. The U16 Wizards narrowly lost out two minutes before penalty kicks [3-2] to Virginia Rush NIKE. The U18 Phoenix had a similar fate losing out in the end [2-1] to the Beach FC Majix.
