For immediate release
The Virginia Legacy Soccer club and Richard Butler have announced
Mr. Butler's resignation from Director of Coaching. Mr. Butler will
continue to aid the transition process of the new club until the
2006-2007 season begins.
'Richard has been an integral part of making our club one of the
premier soccer clubs in Virginia. We wish him the very best with his
career move in the future. At the same time, we are extremely
excited about the prospects and the structure of the new Virginia
Legacy Soccer Club. It is an exciting time for soccer in the area,'
stated long time William & Mary Head Coach Al Albert.
'After much consideration I am hereby resigning as Director of
Coaching. This is not a decision that I have taken lightly but at
this stage of my professional career in soccer it is time for me to
move on. I'm very grateful to the board of the Williamsburg Soccer
Club who gave me the opportunity 14 years ago to develop a youth
soccer club in this area. I have thoroughly enjoyed building a
successful club that had local, regional and national attention on
numerous levels. It has occurred with the support of the board,
parents and with the enthusiasm of our players. I wish the best of
luck in the future to the new Virginia Legacy Soccer Club,' stated
Butler.
Jeff Dominguez, also an Executive Director of the Legacy, stated, 'a
search has begun for Mr. Butler's replacement and we hope to have a
new Director of Coaching in place within the next couple of weeks.
We already have a number of excellent and highly qualified
candidates to begin talks with.'
The Virginia Legacy Soccer Club is in the process of relocating to
the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex (WISC) and will serve 500
premier members. The 2006-2007 season will begin with the
traditional small-sided Summer Sixes Tournament held at the Warhill
Sports Complex on August 5th & 6th and the Williamsburg Cup Labor
Day Tournament for which the club will host over 200 teams.
