Legacy Teams Show Little Hospitality at the Sixes 2007 Tournament

Twelve Legacy Teams Bring Home Awards

U11 Wizards - Sixes 2007 Champions

Williamsburg, VA (March 6, 2007)  -  Two days of small-sided soccer brought some tough competition as the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club hosted its annual Winter Sixes tournament this past weekend. With the month of February coming to a close and the season winding down, there was still some winter weather on the horizon. However, the inclement weather only inconvenienced the spectators, as the Legacy players were in prime form throughout the event.

The first day of play was for the boys’ side as they competed in this 6v6 tournament. The Legacy camp brought in a slew of hardware as they took home three 1st Place prizes and four 2nd Place medals. The U11 Wizards team was one of the first to take home the championship as they went undefeated throughout the entire day. The U14 Wizards also went unbeaten as they won their championship in dramatic fashion capturing the title off of an overtime goal by Zach Harris in the final match. The U13 Wizards rounded out the championship performance for the weekend from the boys’ side. Our U10 White and U10 Red were runners up representing our younger age groups while the U15 Wizards and U18 Wizards earned 2nd Place for our older teams.

The second day of competition was just for the girls and just a bit colder as well. Sunday’s weather was complete with rain, sleet, and blistering winds. The girls pushed through the day and endured the conditions with just as much success as the boys. The U10 Girls Academy won a tough-fought match with Aaliyah “Peanut” Lyttle scoring the game winner in the overtime period to earn them champions to start off the day for the Legacy women. The U15 Phoenix and Black were also impressive as they eventually faced off in the finals with the Phoenix winning 1st and the Black taking home 2nd. The U13 Phoenix put in two teams for the event with one of their teams earning 2nd place for the tournament. Also earning 2nd place honors was the U14 Black team with a record of 3-1.

After everything was all over, the Virginia Legacy had five of its own take home 1st Place and another seven teams with runners up honors. This year’s Winter Sixes tournament was extremely successful with the weather posing a threat but never affecting the play. The Legacy’s next tournament to host will be the Jamestown Cup Memorial Day weekend.
