U16 Wizards Selected to the 2007 Jefferson Cup

Nationally Ranked Tournament Held in Richmond, VA on March 17-18

Virginia Legacy U16 Wizards -CASL Shootout Finalists

Williamsburg, VA (February 6, 2007) – With their impressive play over the past year, the VLSC U16 Wizards have been selected to represent the Virginia Legacy at one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country, the Jefferson Cup. The event is hosted by the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club and is ranked the #3 Youth Boys Tournament in the United States. This exclusive tournament is normally offered to previous state, regional, and national champions. The tournament welcomes over 500 teams each year and generally has about 10 national champions in attendance. This is a great opportunity for our U16 boys to showcase their skills against some of the best competition in the country.

The U16 Wizards have had extreme success over the year competing in some of the top tournaments around. They have reached the finals in every tournament they have entered and recently performed well at the Triangle Friendlies in Fayetteville, NC. “With the Jefferson Cup being one of the best tournaments in the country, this is a huge achievement for these boys. This is something that all of our teams should strive for because not only does it offer great opportunities for these players now, it also has great implications on their future playing careers as they approach college. We are extremely proud and have great confidence that they will represent themselves and the club well,” says Kevin Darcy, VLSC Director of Coaching.
