Position Specific Training:
The Williamsburg Soccer Club is once again on the cutting edge of youth
soccer in
Southeastern
Virginia
with the expansion
of their position specific functional training.
Each
session will be limited to 20 players and will cost 15$ per player.
Sessions will be broken down into specific position and will be
conducted primarily by the Williamsburg Soccer Club’s Assistant
Director of Coaching, and former Virginia Tech player Bobby O’Brien
with assistance from other staff comprised of current and former college
players.
Below,
please find a brief description of each program, the coaching staff,
times, locations and details on how to find out more information.
Tactical Functional Training-Training that is specific to
a role or position. This training takes place in the area of the field
where the player operates. The player will determine which skill is
necessary to solve the demands of the game as dictated by the game.
Decision-making is the essence of this method of training.
Technical Functional Training-
Training that is specific to a position or role of player. It takes
place in the area of the field where the player is positioned; the
technique to be trained is predetermined. Maximum repetition of the
technical skill is provided in the activity, while increasing pressure
to make it more like the game, at optimal time of success.
Technical/Tactical Functional Training- The isolation of
specific technique(s) in a tactical situation. The practice should be
organized to create repetitions to allow the players technical ability
to be trained in a tactical situation. It involves both the technique
and the decision made to meet the demand of the game
All Functional Training sessions will meet the need of the players in
attendance. WSC’s Asst.
Director of Coaching Bobby O’Brien will run the sessions as scheduled
below. There is a fee of $15
per player per session. There
will be 2 sessions scheduled to take place for each of the following
positions; strikers, outside midfielders, central midfielders, center
backs and outside backs. You
can sign up for 3 sessions for $40.
The sessions will take place outside weather permitting at
Queens
Lake
Middle School
and will be as follows.
