Richard Butler, Director
Richard Butler was appointed Director of Coaching for the Williamsburg Soccer Club in the Fall of 1992. Richard had been a four year starter at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he was team captain and a two year Sun Belt All-Conference selection.
A native of London, Richard was an England Independent Schools player at both the Under 16 and 19 levels. Upon graduation from high school he played one year in the Hong Kong professional league where he represented Hong Kong at the Full-Amateur level. After graduation from UAB, he played in the USISL for the Richmond Kickers ending his competitive career in 1994. His competitive career is beginning again as a player for the WSC Legacy.
Richard holds the Premier Advanced National Soccer Association of America (NSCAA) coaching diploma and is an NSCAA Associate Staff Coach qualified to teach both the State and the Regional NSCAA Courses. He coaches regularly at soccer camps in the Mid-Atlantic regions and oversees the Travel Team Program at the Williamsburg Soccer Club.
Johnny Kamara, Associate Director
John (Armado) Kamara is
named the Director of Developmental Programs for Williamsburg Soccer
Club. In his capacity, as the Director of Developmental Programs, John
directs all house league programs for players aged four to eleven for
both boys and girls. This includes our Beginners Clinic and the
Boys and Girls Developmental Leagues.
Johnny is a former William
and Mary player and starter and also played for the Richmond Kickers in
the old USISL. He holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America
National Youth Diploma and has conducted numerous camps and clinics in
the area. He has coached with the Williamsburg Soccer Club Travel Team
Program since 1994 and is currently the coach of the WSC Wizards U17
Elite and the WSC Wizards U11 Elite. Johnny also serves as head
coach in the WSC Super Y Program
Steve
Shaw, Director Peninsula Travel Camp
Peninsula Director Steve Shaw has a proven record of success wherever he has coached. During his career, which has included coaching both boys and girls from high school through Division I college, he has compiled a record of 261-98-34 in 22 years. Before arriving at CNU, Steve was the Head Assistant Coach for Division I William & Mary Men’s Soccer Program. Coach Shaw has led his teams, at Christopher Newport, to a 101-46-6 record in his seven years as Head Coach. Coach Shaw was named Dixie Conference Coach of the Year for the 1999 and 2000 seasons. In 2000, the Captains finished 1st in the Dixie Conference and 1st in the Region and reached the elite eight in the NCAA Tournament. Steve has been coaching in the Williamsburg Soccer Club for over 10 years. Coach Shaw also currently serves as the Regional Director Coaching for Williamsburg Soccer Club.
