Richard Butler, Director
Richard Butler was appointed Director of Coaching for the Williamsburg Soccer Club in the Fall of 1992. Richard had been a four year starter at the University of Alabama at Birmingham
(UAB), where he was team captain and a two year Sun Belt All-Conference selection.
A native of London, Richard was an England Independent Schools player at both the Under 16 and 19 levels. Upon graduation from high school he played one year in the Hong Kong professional league where he represented Hong Kong at the Full-Amateur level. After graduation from
UAB, he played in the USISL for the Richmond Kickers ending his competitive career in 1994. His competitive career is beginning again as a player for the WSC Legacy.
Richard holds the Premier Advanced National Soccer Association of America
(NSCAA) coaching diploma and is an NSCAA Associate Staff Coach qualified to teach both the State and the Regional NSCAA Courses. He coaches regularly at soccer camps in the Mid-Atlantic regions and oversees the Travel Team Program at the Williamsburg Soccer Club.
Chris Friant, Associate Director
Chris, appointed full-time Assistant Director of Coaching for Williamsburg Soccer Club, has coached for WSC for six years and currently coaches the WSC United, the club’s premier U-14 boys team and the WSC Liberty, the club’s premier U-14 girls team.
Chris began his coaching career in 1987. Besides coaching for WSC, Chris has coached for Gloucester High School and for Gloucester
Baystars. Friant has also been the JV Boys and Assistant Girls Varsity Coach at Walsingham Academy.
Friant currently holds a "C" license with the United States Soccer Federation
(USSF), KNVB Dutch National Coaching Certificate and a National Youth License with National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA).
Johnny Kamara, Associate Director
Johnny Kamara is Williamsburg Soccer Club’s Director of Developmental Programs. Johnny is a former W&M Player and a former Richmond Kickers professional player. Johnny holds a NSCAA National Youth Diploma and has conducted camps and clinics in Williamsburg Area for 8 years. He is currently a coach in the WSC Travel Program, coaching the WSC U15 premier boys & girls travel teams.
