To
all Williamsburg Legacy Supporters:
Welcome
to the new season for the Williamsburg Legacy, your Premier
Development League Team that represents the Peninsula area. It
is now only 6
days until our home opener against West Virginia Chaos. In our
inaugural year in 2002 the Legacy were the Mid Atlantic Division
Champions and in 2003 and last year we were the runners up. This
years’ team again has a decidedly local flavor with several
former Williamsburg Soccer Club players and players from the
College of William and Mary. There are also two foreign players
that will give the team a certain flair. The remainder of the
squad this year is made up of players from colleges in Virginia
and North Carolina. For a full list of the roster please go to
our main Williamsburg Legacy web site at www.williamsburglegacy.com.
Former
Williamsburg Soccer Club players in the squad this year are led
by Brannon Thomas (College of William and Mary), Charlie Howe
(Virginia Tech), Robbie Wright (University of Virginia), Galen
Small (Christopher Newport University), Justin Madrid (Campbell
University), Andrew Hoxie (College of William and Mary), Brock
Hughes (Christopher Newport University), Shawn Trueblood
(Christopher Newport University), Daniel Fogarty (Christopher
Newport University), Matt Page (Christopher Newport University),
Bryan Davis (Christopher Newport University), and Jon Anderson
(Christopher Newport University).
Returning
players include Goal keeper John Connelly (Old Dominion
University), Clayton Voss (College of William and Mary), Ado
Fazlic (Old Dominion University), Charlie Howe (Virginia Tech),
Justin Madrid (Campbell University), Galen Small (Christopher
Newport University), Brannon Thomas (College of William and
Mary), Ricardo Valverde (Virginia Commonwealth University) and
Robbie Wright (University of Virginia) . There will also be 22
new faces in the squad this season. For a full list of the
roster please go to our main Williamsburg Legacy web site at www.williamsburglegacy.com.
The
Legacy will play an 16 game season with 8 home games and 8 away
games. There will be five teams in the Mid Atlantic Division:
Raleigh CASL Elite, Carolina Dynamo, West Virginia Chaos,
Richmond Kickers Future and Williamsburg Legacy. The five teams
will vie for the top two spots in the division that will assure
a place in the play offs. A full schedule can be found on the
web site. Tickets for games can be purchased either on game day
or at the Williamsburg Soccer Club office. Tickets are $5 for
adults and $3 for children under 18.
The
team will again be coached by Richard Butler, Director of
Coaching for the Williamsburg Soccer Club. He will be assisted
by Johnny Kamara. Butler has led the Legacy to the play offs in
all three seasons the team has been in existence. During the
2002 season the Legacy was 14-4-0, in 2003 the team was 10-6-2
and in 2004 10-7-0 losing each year in the first round of the
play offs.
Butler
said: “We are all looking forward to getting back home and
playing at Busch. The squad again will be very solid. If we stay
healthy and we get some breaks I think we will be in with a shot
come the end of the season. It’s a tough division with any one
team able to beat any other team on any occasion. It was very
tight at the end last year and I expect the same again this
year.”
