Real Salt Lake deals reserve goalie for forward,
pick
from Associated Press Reports
SALT LAKE CITY -- Real Salt Lake traded backup goalkeeper Noah Palmer to the Columbus Crew on Wednesday for forward/midfielder Duke Hashimoto and a first-round supplemental draft pick next year.
Palmer and Hashimoto have played only with their reserve squads this season. Palmer missed all of 2005 because of shoulder surgery. Hashimoto has working toward finishing his business degree at SMU.
"This is a good deal for both teams, giving Noah a chance to start for a senior MLS team and for RSL to acquire another young, speedy, attacking talent," Real coach John Ellinger said.
Ellinger said Real rated Hashimoto as one of the top players coming out of college.
