Williamsburg
Legacy in Mix for Open
Cup Slot
The
Williamsburg Legacy soccer team has a chance this weekend to
accomplish something that has never been done in Legacy history.
With a win this weekend the Legacy can potentially
advance to the second round of the Open Cup.
The Open Cup is a tournament in which teams from the PDL,
first, and second divisions compete against each other as well
as MLS teams. The
tournament is a chance for all amateur and professional teams to
compete in one large tournament. The
Legacy have put themselves in good position to advance with a
solid 2-0-1 record so far. They
are tied for second in their division with the Cape Cod
Crusaders, who also have a 2-0-1 record and are behind the
Virginia Beach Submariners, who have a 3-0 record.
A win for the Legacy on Saturday night and depending on
the results of the
Cape Cod
and
Virginia Beach
games, this year’s Legacy could become the first team to
advance in the Open Cup in the program’s history.
