Chaos and Gunners on Virginia’s weekend schedule
Legacy now hold a 5-3-0 record
Williamsburg, VA (June 12, 2007) - The Virginia Legacy recently turned a corner this 2007 PDL Season winning their last three games and moving into 3rd Place in the Mid-Atlantic Division behind Ocean City and Hampton Roads.
With a small but important winning streak in hand, the Legacy wish to build off of their recent success as they have yet another double-header this weekend. The team will travel to West Virginia on Friday, June 15th as they take on the Chaos in the first leg of their double-header. This will be the second meeting between the two as the Legacy defeated the Chaos 2-0 in their first game of the season. Since then, the Chaos is 2-6-1 and is looking to get back on track with a home win.
With little time to rest, Virginia will then turn around and stop in Fredericksburg, VA to play the Gunners on Saturday afternoon. In their first meeting in Williamsburg, the Legacy shut out the Gunners 1-0.
The Legacy have in been in top form recently holding opposing teams to minimal scoring chances but have struggled to score themselves. In their eight matches they have only given up a stingy eight goals, but have only scored nine goals for their own campaign. Zak Thompson has been the prominent goalie for Virginia letting in only 7 goals while Andrew Hoxie leads the Legacy attack with 3 goals and 7 points, recording two of his goals in his last two games.
With the two games coming ahead this weekend, the Virginia Legacy needs to come away with six points in order to keep pace with Ocean City and Hampton Roads. As half of the season is already gone, every point is essential for a possible playoff berth come July.
