Legacy PDL Reserve Team Will Debut this Summer 2007
Majority of Players will Come from the Travel Team Program
Williamsburg, VA (January 29, 2007) - The Virginia Legacy Soccer Club announced today the addition of the Legacy PDL Reserve Team to accompany the Senior Team.
The PDL 1st team will mostly consist of top college players from around the area as well as a few players already playing within our travel program. In addition to the 1st team squad, tryouts for the Legacy PDL Reserve team will take place in the month of May. Tryouts will be held for Legacy travel players in the U15-U18 age group. The roster will be limited to 22 players and will also carry college players as well. The reserves team will be selected by the VLSC Staff and will be led by head coach, Jeff Dominguez.
Players that are fortunate enough to make the Legacy Reserves team will train twice a week with the PDL 1st team, and they will play in highly competitive games against other Reserve teams and Super Y teams around the area. Teams that are already locked in to participate include:
- DC United U19
- Triangle FC Super Y
- Crystal Palace FC USA Reserves
- Virginia Legacy – PDL 1st Team
Players on the Legacy Reserves team will also be allowed the opportunity to transfer up to the Senior Team if PDL Head Coach, Kevin Darcy feels they have deserved that right. “With the Legacy Reserves team now in place, competition to get on the senior team should be extremely high come this summer. This is a great opportunity to get more quality players involved in the PDL squad and it also allows incoming college Freshman an opportunity to train with the level of quality they will be competing against for the next four years,” says Kevin Darcy, Director of Coaching, Head Coach Legacy PDL 1st Team.
