David Pickeral Memorial Scholarship Fund

Thank you too all individuals, team, clubs and leagues that have donated to the David Pickeral Memorial Scholarship Fund. Presently we have received over $23,500 in donations. The Williamsburg Soccer Club (WSC) Board of Directors decided that the fund would be invested in an endowment fund that the Board of Directors will oversee. Each year a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in David's name to a Williamsburg Soccer Club senior intending to continue their studies at college. The applicant may be male or female but must have played with the WSC for at least three years.  The Board of Directors will develop and oversee an application process. A review committee will award the scholarship. The money must go towards tuition, fees, housing or books. In order to continue to fund the scholarship in perpetuity a percentage of income from the Virginia Club Champions League Showcase for boys will go directly into the fund. The Showcase will be renamed the David Pickeral Memorial College Showcase.

The club will continue to accept donations at www.williamsburgsoccer.com or Virginia Legacy Soccer Club, 5700 WarHill Trail, Williamsburg VA 23188.  The Virginia Legacy Soccer Club is a non-profit 501(c) 3

The Williamsburg Soccer Club families have been through a traumatic event in the last 72 hours. Dave Pickeral was a great kid, a dedicated player and a true teammate. He had a massive love for the game we all play and enjoy. I am in the process of setting up the "David Pickeral Memorial Scholarship Fund" with my board of directors. The full details have not yet been worked out but essentially the club will donate a sum of money to start this educational fund so that Dave's name is preserved through the WSC. The Pickeral's have asked that in lieu of flowers that any donations be sent to the club. If you wish to donate please reference on the check that it is for this cause. The address can be found below. The Williamsburg Soccer Club is a non-profit 501(c) 3. Full details about the fund will be released in the near future.

To all Williamsburg Soccer Club Families,

I hope that all of you are doing as well as can be expected considering the traumatic event that we have all been though in the last 72 hours. Dave was a great kid, a dedicated player and a true teammate. He had a massive love for the game we all play and enjoy. Many of you knew Dave and his parents Robin and Dennis. Some of you didn't.  But at this time I feel it is vitally important that we all support each other. His teammates also need support in this time of great loss. I am encouraging everyone associated to the club to attend the viewing tonight or the funeral tomorrow, or both, to support all of the people in our club connected to Dave and his family. Details can be found on our website concerning directions and times at www.williamsburgsoccer.com

Below is the Pickeral's address if you want to send a card.

Lastly, I am in the process of setting up the "David Pickeral Memorial Scholarship Fund" with my board of directors. The full details have not yet been worked out but essentially the club will donate a sum of money to start this educational fund so that Dave's name is preserved through the WSC. The Pickeral's have asked that in lieu of flowers that any donations be sent to the club. Please reference on the check that it is for this cause. The club address can also be found below.

It is all terribly tragic but I believe together we can help each other and pull through this desperately sad time. I hope to see you over the next couple of days.
