Player Appreciation Night was a Huge Success!
On December 2nd the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club held its first ever player appreciation night in honor of the players, coaches and parents who put so much effort into the Fall Season. Over 400 players, coaches and families attended the event that was fun for all ages. The entire event was held inside the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex (WISC) and different events took place throughout the night. On the sport court were a couple of 2 v 2 fields that kids were able to play on throughout the night to see who could stay on the longest. There were also a variety of games including a obstacle course, juggling competition, a shooting accuracy competition where you had to shoot the ball and hit a face of one of the full time staff here at VLSC. There was also a shooting radar where you were able to test your power.
The night was highlighted by a game between the coaching staff of VLSC and the U18 Wizards team. The final score was close but the game was never in doubt as the Coaches rode a wave of early goals to win the game 6-5. Unfortunately the U18 team will never have another shot at the coaches and must live with defeat forever.
Throughout the night food was provided by Ryan’s Deli. All the food was donated and we would love to take this opportunity to thank them for the amount of work that they put into the event, as well as all the parents who volunteered to help run games, set-up/take down, sell raffle tickets and merchandise. Without the parents and volunteers this event would not have been able to take place in the manner it did.
Through raffle sales and old Williamsburg Legacy PDL and Super Y paraphernalia the Scholarship fund was able to raise over $1,000 dollars for its cause. We appreciate all the support everyone put into this event because without these events it is hard for the club to grow. These are the kinds of things that set us apart and it was great to see everyone come together after a fall season with a newly formed club and have a great time together.
