Adin Brown was
signed by the Revolution on January 15, 2002. The up-and-coming
goalkeeper, a 6’5 California native, came to the Revs after splitting
the 2001 season with the Colorado Rapids and the Tampa Bay Mutiny.
Brown was originally
drafted by the Rapids as the third pick in the first round of the 2000 MLS
SuperDraft out of William & Mary. He appeared in 13 games during his
rookie season, posting a 2.04 goals against average for the Rapids.
The 6’5 Brown was
dealt to the Mutiny on June 28, 2001, with defender Scott Vermillion in
exchange for midfielder Carlos Valderrama, goalkeeper Scott Garlick and
defender Richie Kotschau. Over his two-year MLS career, Brown has a 2.16
goals against average in 35 appearances.
Brown helped the
U-23 U.S. National Team to a bronze medal in the 1999 Pan American Games
and was also the starting goalkeeper for that team’s run to the 2000
Olympic Games, but injuries forced him to miss the Games in Sydney,
Australia.
Brown finished his career at the College of William & Mary as the
school’s all-time leading goalkeeper, holding every goaltending record.
He was a first-team selection to the NSCAA All-American Team in each of
his last two seasons and registered 417 saves in his four-year career.
